How we started

Inner Beauty Mastectomy Wear was born from my personal journey through breast cancer—a journey that not only tested me physically but revealed a deep emotional and systemic gap in post-mastectomy care.

At the time of my diagnosis, I was living in India.  As a physician—an anaesthesiologist who had provided anaesthesia for many mastectomies—I thought I was prepared. I had seen the physical toll of the surgery countless times. But nothing prepared me for the emotional and psychological impact of losing a part of my body.

The experience of mastectomy is akin to an amputation—just invisible to the outside world. And yet, the solutions for this loss are often treated as optional or cosmetic, when in fact, they are medically necessary .

In Canada, I was surprised to meet many women in the same situation—still living with the physical and emotional burden of breast asymmetry long after treatment had ended.

I deeply understood that feeling—because I had lived it.

That’s what inspired me to create Inner Beauty Mastectomy Wear and become a certified mastectomy fitter. My goal was to fill this gap in care with compassion, expertise, and dignity—because every woman deserves to feel whole again.

After breast surgery, she is in one of the most vulnerable periods of her life, grappling with the loss of a part of her body, and facing overwhelming questions about survival, femininity, and identity. For women from immigrant or culturally conservative backgrounds like mine,  cultural taboos, privacy concerns, and language barriers often make it difficult to ask for help—let alone walk into a store and shop for something so intimate.

At Inner Beauty, instead of expecting women to come to a store, I go to them—in their own homes, where they feel safest and most comfortable. I bring a range of high-quality products, and provide one-on-one fittings tailored to their bodies and preferences.

When I share my own story as a breast cancer survivor, I often see them begin to relax. They relate to me, feel understood—and most importantly, they find hope. And when we find the right fit, the change in their confidence is immediate and profound. You can see it in their posture. You can see it in their smile.

This is the heart of what I do: helping women rediscover their balance, confidence, and inner beauty.
